what to do with a VERY hyper 2 1/2 old ?

HELP? I have a very hyper two year old and i dont mean hyper in the way that most kids are hyper. He wakes up at dawn and is still going at mid-night. I really feel like i am at my ends. I feel like a failure. Its just that he is very aggresive and to a certain extint he is even abusive. He hits everyone including me and my husband. I am now five and half months pregnet. His doctor want me to put him on medicine? what should i do.
