 | It's confusing hey?! My son is almost 14 months old and is starting to only take 1 nap.
The problem I ran into was early mornings. He can't be expected to stay up until 1:00 pm when he wakes at 6. So I started taking him back to bed with me and he sometimes sleeps until 7 or 8. (He has an 8:00 bedtime.) This way, he can make it until 1:00 and he has a 1 or 2 hour nap. Then he's up either at 2 or 3 and is good until 7:00, which is bathtime. By the time we're done bathing and having his bottle, it's 8:00 and he is so ready for bed.
I would try keeping him up until around 1:00. See how he does. If he gets tired, let him go to sleep. The problem I have with Nathan taking 2 naps lately is that he doesn't get tired until he's up 4 hours. So if he goes to bed at 11:00, sleeps for an hour, then his second nap would be around 4 and that's too late. And having only 1 nap for an hour, waking at 12 and having to stay up until bedtime, well he'd be so overtired....
Anyways, I found that it is best to just play it by ear. There is no way I can plan his day because it depends on what time he gets up in the morning. If he won't go back to sleep when he wakes at 6, well then he's ready for sleep at 10, and that day he takes 2 naps.
Sorry this is so long winded - I tend to be that way!!
Let me know how things go. |
