I completely agree with you! My son is 14 months and we've tried to let him cry as well. For one, it never worked and we let him cry one night - I'm ashamed to admit - 3 hours. His night was absolutely terrible that night. For another, it upset me too much to listen to him.

Does he go to sleep if you rock him, read him a story, or just hold him? Nathan still gets a bedtime bottle and alot of the time he will fall asleep with it and then I lay him down. Once in a while he will wake up in the night and I either just rub his back until he falls back to sleep or if he wants to be picked up, sit with him. It usually only takes 10 mins. or so. I think that this way is easier on the whole family, including the baby.
