 | I think the word your looking for is “peer” pressure. Personally, I like do to my own thing and am so adamant in my own ways, I’m not swayed by what others think or do. You asked for my opinion on these things, and here they are:
Drugs: I roll my eyes at teenagers who actually do drugs. Sure, being an adolescent is the hardest times of your lives, but I have faced a lot of hardships as well, and value what little future I may have and wish to make the best out of my life without killing brain cells, or filling my kidneys with smoke. My opinions was swayed by this because of all the things I have seen. My father is an alcoholic and drugs addict, last time I ever seen him, he showed up at my house drunk. Last time I have ever talked to him was when he was high and threatening to commit suicide. My uncle died from a drug overdose to my knowledge, at least, my grandfather died from cancer of the lungs. I study physiology and have meandered around the ward my mother works at as a doctor and she showed me the cruel effects of drugs and alcohol. A person who’s face is so discolored it looks almost gold, and cannot even breathe or use the bathroom on their own without a machine. It’s truly sad. They spend their teen years drinking away and it makes me sick to imagine what will happen to the current drug addicts of today.
Sex: I don’t know my opinions on this and like all teenagers, I wonder what it will feel like, but I know in my heart I’m too bitter of a person and feel no one will ever love me enough got me to let them get close enough for sex. I suppose I can safely say I believe in abstinence in fear of getting hurt. I won’t let anyone persuade me into sex until in my heart I’m certain this will be the person I will actually be with and is willing to be with me.
Popularity: I’m a popular person, but not in a good way. Being on the Homecoming court has no effect on me, and I will die of shock if I’m even considered for it. I don’t like being with people who I have to change my being just for acceptance and wonder why people want to do things they are pressured to do for the sake of being in. When in fact, you won’t be in for long, people use and abuse.
