SUBJECT: weaning but won't take formula
I am in the process of weaning my 9 month old from the breast. My milk supply was decreasing and he was starting to bite, so I decided to put him on formula. The problem is he won't take much formula in a day. He eats well..three good meals a day...but I know he's not getting enough milk. I'm still trying to nurse him at least once a day, but he's not getting very much from me, and probably only getting about 8 ounces of formula a day. The doctor said not to worry as long as he's gaining weight and that he'll take it when he needs it, but I'm worried he's not getting enough of the nutrients he needs from the formula. Any suggestions on how I can get him to take more? I even tried not feeding him the solids one day thinking he would be hungry enough to take the formula, but he held out until I finally fed him at 2:00. Help!
