SUBJECT: "Say no drugs" message taught in First Grade ?
My daughter came home yesterday to tell me that they were taught to say "I say no to drugs" or something to that affect. So, naturally she asked me what that means. I don't believe the school went into any detail about what drugs are or anything. I stumbled over my words to try to differentiate between good pills from a doctor and bad drugs from the street and did a horrbile job.It resulted in my daughter becoming frustrated that she still didn't know what drugs were and why the lesson was as such in the school, etc etc. It was heartbreaking ...
QUESTION: Does anyone have any suggestions on how to explain drugs to a 6 year old ?
