SUBJECT: 8 yr old daughter and my boyfriend
This is the deal,my boyfriend and I have been living together for almost a year. He is great with my daughter and watches her sometimes when I am at work. The thing is he sometimes teases her, like for instance she wanted to go swimming and he responded by saying " go fill up the tub ". I tell him not to tease her because she doesn't like it. I told him if he continues to do this, she will never accept him later on as a stepdad. I know she cares for him but she keeps saying that she doesn't want us to get married and she doesn't want a new dad. I assured her that he's not trying to take the place of her dad (which by the way, he's not in her life anymore). Does anyone think she will eventually accept our relationship? We have been together for a year and a half. I think in the near future we will get married. Any suggestions???
