I relize you don't have time to stay up but if you don't solve this soon other issues will arise. Have you tried to set up a bed in his room and sleep next to him? Try this for a couple of nights and just talk with him and comfort him. Maybe after a few nights his will be able to sleep, then you can go to your own bed. Does he have a night light? Maybe this could be an option.
