ummm, can I come teach at your school? I am a public school teacher. You are very lucky and must have tons of parent support to be able to do all the things you do with your kids. There are a few kids in my classes who I know would love the opportunity to learn a language or about music.

Most of my kids come straight out of daycare and you are correct-many of them do not know any of the basics. The ones that do have mom at home/private care/posh preschool are like a different breed. I even suggested to my principal that we have a class for those kids becuase they are so far ahead. I think other schools call it a stacked classroom? As it is, I am teaching colors this year. I know if I was one of those parents who paid thousands and thousands for preschool, I would not be happy at all having my child in a class learning ABC.

I am going to go off on a mini-rant here becuse I have read some of your posts and know you'll understand. What the heck kind of parent does not make sure their child knows his colors? Then these same parents will read a post like yours and come in asking why I'm not teaching French. I wish I could do home visits to determine who gets into my class next year.

What do I need to do to start teaching private school? I would love to have a room full of kids who want a teacher, not a mom.
