SUBJECT: 10 1/2 month old, NO BABBLING
My son is 10 and a half months old and has not uttered a single consonant. He is my first and gets lots of attention. We read, sing, watch educational programs, play outside. I am very articulate and always narrate what I am doing just so he can hear the sound of my voice. He has excellent hearing and proves it every day. He is pointing at things, and if you ask him where an object is, he will either look at it or point to it. He does vocalize sometimes with a lot of "oooooooooo-ing" or high pitched sqeaking, or regular pitched vowel noises, but never any babbling or consonant sounds. He is very smiley and happy, and easy to make laugh. He is also sensitive and will whine or cry, he definately shows his emotions. He crawls, pulls himself up, climbs stairs, and grabs everything in sight. Almost everything seems normal to me except for the not babbling thing. I'm really starting to get worried and am thinking about having him evaluated for any potential problems. If anyone has any info on other babies like this, or any input at all I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you.
