SUBJECT: Depression Meds while Pregnant-- DON'T DO IT!!!
I had terrible postpartum depression and also have had recurrent depression all my life, been on various meds & regularly see a psychiatrist. I know what depression is & how hard it is to deal with, but unless you are going to do harm to yourself or someone else, I firmly believe in toughening-up & staying off all meds while pregnant. YES, you can have a normal pregnancy & a seemingly healthy baby, but who knows what you did to that child's brain in the long run? Also, having suffered extreme withdrawl myself after stopping meds, would I really want my newborn child to have to go through that? You have to prioritize your life now that you are a mother. My child will always come first in my life. If I could function without meds while pregnant, anyone can do it.
