SUBJECT: 12 month-old resisting naps - time for 1 nap a day?
My son is 12 months old. He has been taking 2 naps a day for a total of 1 1/2 to 3 hours of nap-sleep since he was 9 months old. He goes to bed for the night around 6:30 pm and wakes up between 6:30 and 7 am. Over the last few weeks, he has started resisting going to sleep at naptime. Sometime he resists in the morning; sometimes it's in the afternoon; sometimes he doesn't resist at all.

Does this mean he is starting to transition to 1 nap a day? I thought that babies usually shifted to 1 nap around 15-18 months, so this seems a little early. Also, he seems tired when he misses a nap and gets cranky by the end of the day.

So, in short, I was just wondering if other people's babies changed to 1 nap this early and/or if these were the same sort of signs people got that their babies were ready for only 1 nap. Also, when your baby shifted to 1 nap, did he or she simply quit napping at either the morning or afternoon naptime or did the timing of the naptime change as well?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
