My 16 mo. old son has been giving me problems at nap time the past few days - I think it's because his schedule got off this weekend when we were away from home. Up until now he's been pretty good at taking naps & going to bed at night. There were a few times (at 12 mos. & 15 mos.) when he put up some fuss & cry when we put him down, but luckily both those times were when we had dr. appts. scheduled & the dr. said that they are common age ranges to have some sleep disruptions. The best solution we have come up with is just consistency. When I put my son down for a nap, down is down & I don't go in to get him for one hour (that is the suggested time frame from a sleep book I read). Typically it just takes one nap time with some crying & then he realizes that it's not worth the fight.
Has your daughter had any disruptions in her schedule that may be causing her to have problems sleeping? Another thing is that it's common to have sleep problems just before a milestone - crawling, walking,etc. At 16-17 mos., maybe part of the problem is that it's time to go to just 1 nap a day. Sorry I'm not too helpful, but these are just some ideas that are going thru my head as I try to figure out how to get my son to take his naps!
