First of all find a childcare provider not a sitter. (i am a home childcare provider and trust me there is a difference). Next, if you don't want to go back to work and financially don't have to then don't. You can't get back that first year. Then at 1yr old reconsider the idea of working again. Your degree you will ALWAYS have. You can ALWAYS go back to work. You don't want to regret any decisions. I know you didn't expect this baby but GOD decided it was time for you to be a mom. he thought you were ready. You sound like you are and that you are enjoying it! I would also think twice about letting the inlaws watch the baby. I am not particularly for or against it I would just be aware o fthe cost of non-family childcare and whether or not you are going to pay family. I saw a red flag in your post re: what him and his family want you to do. They sound controlling. consider how much control over your child's daily life do you want them to have. If you are okay w/ them then great.

From what I got from yoru post you should stay home and thank them for their offer of childcare. Let them know you are always on the lookout for just the right professional position but until then you will wait until the baby is 1 or 2 before you consider going back to work. Hope this helps!
