My 8yr old daughter is biting

I can't believe I was just told by my daughter's bus driver that she bit two other girls on the bus. Evidentally they sit with her. I don't know all of the details because the principal didn't know either. And on top of that she tried to bite another girl in the after school program. I don't understand, she is usually a very good child. She is in band and on the drill team. Maybe someone can give some insight as to how I should handle this tonight with her. She just got off of being grounded for swinging at me when I asked her to stop yelling. I guess that is when it started. Help.
