 | I can only do what I can do and I can only be a positive influence to those who want to listen and notice. I can't force anyone to not smoke, drink, or cuss in front of their kids. I can't force parents to buckle up their kids and I certainly can't force moral issues on them. That is why God gave us free will. I only wish all parents had to go thru what I did when I became a foster parent. There wouldn't be any of the crap I see or at least not as much.
Money unfortunetly is a necesary evil in todays society. That is one of the biggest reasons for not sending my son to a Catholic school. The other main reason is they don't have all of the resources as the public school so I have to compromise. The before/after care program I have my son in is a Christain center where he prays daily and is learning a lot about the Bible. This is the best plce for him outside of being home with a parent. Sometimes tho, thats not even the best place. It all depends on the parents.
We go shopping cause I have to but I try to do it on weekends. I won't take away precious time from my time with him unless it is an emergency. Anyways, I couldn't afford to go shopping 2 times a week. Once is enough to get the essentials. And YES, I have a 30 year loan and use credit. I also pay off as much as I can to keep the balances down. I won;t get my head under where I will go bankrupt but when a furnace goes down, you have to do what you have to do.
I also make sure my son and I go on a vacation every year. No, not to Disney but to the beach. That is a luxurey I have had for years and will continue as long as I can afford it Even if it is for only a long weekend. When it comes time that I can't, I won't. Everyone needs a mental break form time to time. You just don't need to over do it. |
