SUBJECT: disowned by grandparents
my son was disowned by his paternal grandparents before he was born as his father and I had split up. He is now 3 and all of a sudden they want into his life. Despite some serious concerns I agreed to one visit - to see how things went before committing both myself and my son to any further visitations.
They sent a message via my sons fathers ex wife that they wanted to see my son, but only if I was not present and they were prepared to wait til his father - who lives 5000 miles away, can take him to them.
Is it wrong for me to say that they can't see him under those rules. That they can't set the perameters for meetings. My son see's his father once a year for a few days and then apart from a letter every now and again there is no contact. I only want to protect my son from being hurt and from hearing awful things about me which aren't true. I have heard these people attack their other grandsons mother because she didn't marry their son and married someone else. I don't want that to happen with my son.
Am I being unfair to them?
