 | I've been reading all the messages about the breath holding spells, and I wanted to contribute mine about my now 20 month old girl, Meghan. She's been having breath holding spells since one year old. She goes beyond the average and cries, stops breathing, turns blue/purple, eyes roll back, she lies there for about 30 seconds lifeless, and then goes into a full seizure with drooling and eye rolling and jerking for about a minute. She then lies there limp and lifeless with barely any breathing, and I can only watch and pray every time. The first time she did it it lasted over two minutes and I thought she was dead. 5 % of children have breath holding spells, and 2% of that 5% have severe breath holding, which is what she has. I thought they were over, but she just seized back to back on one episode, so she'll be seeing a neurologist in November. These scare the sanity out of me. |
