Your baby must be in the habit of eating at night? If so, have you tried reducing the amount in the cup slowly? I did this before letting my baby cry it out. First I tried to eliminate that habit of formula/milk at night. When I got from 8 oz down to 4, then I let her cry it out. Does the Ferber method involve going into the room and comforting the baby for a few minutes? I think that lengthens the time that it takes, or at least it did for me.

There's always earplugs and closed doors ;).
