HELP! how do u play with your 5 months old without TV?

my son only seems to like watching the TV when we're home. I heard that infants shouldn't watch TV at all but he seems to like it too much especially blues clues, baby einstein videos and dora. I tried turning off the TV and playing with him but i run out of ideas. i need help!
he seems to get bored with toys easily, and when he's on the walker, he is busy trying to lick the play tray on the walker. when i read to him he is constantly trying to eat the book. he only seems interested in trying to put stuff in his mouth but he gets easily fraustrated because his attempts fail. he likes it when i hold him up on the floor and he "jumps". but my arms get too tired but he seems to want to do that all day long while watching the TV. what other toys can you get for a baby like him? what kind of activities can you do with a baby like him when you are stuck at home on rainy days?
