SUBJECT: Gestational Thrombocytopenia
I am 33 weeks pregnant and about 5 weeks ago I found out that I have a low platelet count. The reason is due to pregnancy and hopefully will go away after birth. At this point my count is high enough that there is no harm to the baby or myself- the drs. are now monitoring me bi weekly to see if my counts continue to decline.
Right now the only way this is effecting me is that I can't have an epidural during birth- YIKES-
If my counts continue to drop I will be put on a steroid (which I do not want to do).
Anyone else ever had this??? I would love to hear from you.
Gail
