I've just joined up so I could become a part of this conversation and perhaps get a suggestion or two. I have a 14 month old son that has just started having tantrums. During the day, we just ignore them and let him work though them. Then we snuggle a bit and get on with our day. He's a very good natured little boy and usually very easy to deal with so I hate to complain.

However, these tantrums have also started in the middle of the night. He is currently working on 2 upper molars and 2 lower teeth. I'm sure he wakes up from the discomfort. My problem is that once he wakes up and is comforted, he will not go back down. In the past with other teeth, he would wake up and after being comforted, he would lay back down and sleep the rest of the night. Last night was different - he screamed for 2 hours. The screaming and crying and banging on the wall and rocking his crib were no longer related to the teeth - it was just an outright fit. The only thing that would comfort him was if we picked him up and rocked him. We just don't know what to do anymore - we want to make things better for him, but we don't want him thinking that we'll give in at night.

Any suggestions for the middle of the night?
