SUBJECT: Preschool - more harm than good?
My three year old in now in her second month of preschool (3 days/week, 3 hours/day). Ever since I started her there I have noticed a huge difference in her - not good. Her manners have deteriorated, her grammar has deteriorated, her attitude is terrible. I have noticed a few questionable things at her school. Teachers say things like, "I thought you were a big girl, not a baby," or "She doesn't want to be your friend anymore because you were mean to her," and even "Are you going to let a little girl do that to you." I was trying to overlook it because I know that no matter what I do, she will come into contact with people like this, but I am at my wits end. I am just not sure how to deal with this and how to teach her that some things are not OK even when her teacher is telling her they are. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to pull her out of preschool altogether because it is the only time she has with kids her own age. What can/should I do? By the way, my daughter is very advanced for her age. I don't know if that has any factor in this. Thanks for your help.
