SUBJECT: Tantrum Foster Child _no spanking allowed-
My three year old can cry for four hours at a time. Mostly it happens when it is time to go to bed. Her sister sleeps in the same room on her own bed (she is 4) but the 3 year old jumps on her bed, swings her legs to stay awake and cries. She comes to the hall (we keep a baby gate up to keep her in the room) and says "I want a hug" over and over again. We have tried everything known to man to make her feel safe (leav a light on and would not dare shut the door) she was neglected by birhtmom so we do not isolate her by closing her door. When she sees that her dad and I are at the end of our rope she wants a hug. I do not hug her and I tell her that I do not want a hug when she is being bad. If I give her a hug that would reinforce the temper tantrum correct? Anytime she does anything good she is praised and we are very affectionate people. I do not know what to do.
