SUBJECT: Is there a way that I can justify taking an extended leave of absence from my job to care for my son
I gave birth to Julian on June 28, 2003. He is almost 3months old and when I think about returning to work my heart races, I cry and get utterly depressed. I work for the federal government and will have already taken the 16 weeks of the family medical leave that we are granted without pay. I want to stay out longer - at least another three months but I don't know how to medically justify it? I don't want to lie about an illness however I feel like I will have a nervous breakdown if I leave my baby this young. I don't know if adults can be diagnosed with separation anxiety disorder. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can go about getting granted an extended leave of absence to care for my baby?

Help!!!
