 | I can't speak for the stage you are at now, but last night I finally put on some Calomine lotion and tucked my shirt into my sleeping shorts-which cover my belly snuggly at this point. It helped stave off the itching and I managed to get some sleep.
Today I did the same thing, added more lotion and wore maternity shorts that fit snugly around my whole belly-this made it bearable.
Probably the biggest lesson I learned the first time that I have been doing the last few days is terribly simple: Don't Scatch. I know it's miserably itchy, but I'm just as sure that scratching won't help.
It has felt itchiest to me when exposed to the air or in loose fitting clothing, so my thought is to put on some anti-itch cream and make sure you wear clothing that fits snugly around the areas that itch (but not so much to make you hot and sweaty). I've thought of wraping an Ace bandage around my belly under my clothes if I have to.
My PUPPS just started Wed., so it's not real bad right now and doing the above has helped it be bearable the last two days. Hopefully, it won't get worse.
It might be more difficult if you've been scratching a lot and it's spreading-getting worse. But the above ideas still might help somewhat. The other stuff I read on this site about cold washcloths or, if need, be meds, could be looked into, but I'd say since you are at your due date try to hang in there and try as many natural remedies as you can first. Inducing opens up another pandora's box of complications-difficulties.
Don't scratch-stay busy to take your mind off of it.Hang in there and I hope you have a baby real soon. |
