SUBJECT: baby constipated on alimentum???
My son is 9 weeks---at 4 weeks of age he had surgery on the muscle that is in the stomach going to the intestine(pyloric stenosis)a very common surgery in infants (usually appears in first born sons). He is on alimentum because it is easy to digest and still has very sticky like bms which he has trouble passing...he screams trying to go. The dr. has put him on prune juice 4 oz. a day. and if that didn't work use the karo. Well the prune juice made him gassy so we use the karo and it worked go for a few days...then the same old thing-screaming. So now we are back to the prune juice....before going back to the prune juice --two days in a roll we have had to help him go with taking his temp. or with suppositories. The dr. says that he is still recovering from the surgery and this maybe the reason he is having this trouble. Has anyone else had trouble with alimentum constipating an infant...just wondering if it might be the formula not doing good with him. or it may just take time like the dr. says to recover from the surgery. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. thanks
