SUBJECT: I am at a loss with what to do about my 7 year old son...
Since Kindergarten my son has had some behavior issues and through the few years(now in 2nd grade) has progressively gotten worse. He is a very smart child and at the fourth grade reading level. He loves to learn about almost everything and can never wait to read a good book at home. When he gets to school though, he basically does nothing. He spends most of his school hours writing classroom rules, sitting in time-out, not doing what is expected of him. His teacher says that he basically just comes to school and does nothing too. His teacher also recognizes the abilities he has. My husband and I have tried everything from the talking to him to taking away all of his favorite activities, games, tv, toys, etc. What can our next step be? How can we help him suceed in life? How can we make him understand the importance of school? When it comes time for him to do his homework at home, he breezes through it as though the homework was nothing. From Math to Science...he finishes his homework in record time and usually only gets one or two answers wrong. HELP!
