 | i was surfing the web for a surefire answer to the very same problem.
my son will be turning 2 in October and i call him my "ball and chain" b/c that's what he is. if i am not in the room with him, he will literally hang onto my leg until i go back to where he wants me to be. he's always been a clingy baby/toddler, but this is getting crazy. i have mixed emotions about it. i'm a full-time working mom and i pick him up anywhere b/w 4:30 and 5:30 and he goes to sleep around 8, so i know he wants to spend time with me. but, i can't spend all my time with him when there are household issues that need to get done, dinner is the main example. i've tried setting up activities in the kitchen for him, but when he's done with them, he wants me to go wherever he wants to go. what i usually do is, when he attaches himself to my leg, i just go about what i was doing and explain to him that i will play with him when i can. it's so frustrating b/c he's so persistent and strong. so, i do sympatize with what you're going through and i wish i had a concrete answer. everyone says that it will pass and i will appreciate it later when he wants to be dropped off a block away from school. but still, it doesn't help the situation now. |
