Don't worry for a second about how the other passengers react, I have found even this last time when our daughter got a bit upset that almost everyone is supportive and understanding! Does your daughter travel well in the car? I found with my daughter that when she got upset i pulled down the window shade and that made it better. We sang songs and when there was turbulance I bounced her on my knee so that way she didnt feel it so much. We had the kids on our laps this last trip but the airline was so nice they sat us so we had an empty seat between us and both kids slept alot! So if your daughter tends to sleep in your car I will bet she will tend to sleep alot on the plane too.
Try not to be nervous! It will be fine!! I got my husband to just stand once and changed our son right in the seat, that worked ok too but not as much room.
Take care and good luck!
