IN REPLY TO: Nursing for a three year old.
AUTHOR: Mommymel
SHHHH.. DO NOT TELL THE NEGATIVE MEAN PEOPLE WHO RESPONDED... I AM NURSING A ALMOST 5 YEAR OLD, A 3 YEAR OLD AND A 3 MONTH OLD!!! YEP THATS RIGHT I HAVE THREE ON MY BOOB!!! My response to you about the three year old nursing, if it makes you comfortable and your daughter is happy then leave it be and nurse her untill its time to quit. If you want to wean then my recommendation is to do it gradually. Offer to cuddle her and distract her with a book or song to ease her mind from nursing. Is she sleeping in your bed because she nurses or because thats just where she's been for the past 3 years. I have all three of mine in my bed and sleep completely fine with them there. I do have a pack-n-play for the lil guy though because at 3 months he is a wiggler and likes to scoot to the head of the bed { YES I WORRY ABOUT HIM GETTING CAUGHT UP}I did not intend to nurse the 4 1/2 year old this long at all, but every time I attempt to cut him off alittle it becomes more of a hassle then it is worth. Plus he during his toddler years was very sickly and nursing was a way to calm himself {he has a brain tumor/chemo at 19mo-3 1/2} I do not nurse him out in public nor in front of anyone but my husband. It is not an every night thing either, but enough of my kids nursing. I think you should do ONLY what your heart tells you to do and nothing else. Do not listen to any of the mean grouchy women who respond here either. They are jealous of the special bond you have with your daughter.
