SUBJECT: changing from crib to bed
I am glad someone else is having questions about when to move a young child from his or her crib to a bed. I am a first time mom of a 17 month old boy, who is very active and very smart. Money is very tight right now and I want to know when is a good time to switch sleeping spaces--will my son give me some kind of sign that he is ready and if so, what kind of bed do I get? I can't see him in a regular bed, because he will jump out constantly and hurt himself. But, the crib seems silly and the railings seem to always be where his head/or face ends up at night. We would probably still have to put a sturdy gate up to keep him from escaping his room and falling down the stairs. Anyway, you can see my dilemma! What do you expert mommies think? Thanks for your help.
