I think(to the person that started this post)you should know that the meaning of the word discipline is disciple. That word should be in your bible also. It means "to teach". Maybe you should sit down and think about what you are teaching your child when you do these kinds of things.My son is only 17 months old,and I could not hit him. Do you think by spanking your children that they are sitting there afterwards and really thinking about what they did. NO!! They need your help and "teaching" to make them understand what they did wrong. My son has temper tantrums. What do you think he would learn if I spanked him after he had a temper tantrum? It is my responsiblily to teach him how to expell his anger properly. Spanking him would only be a contradiction. Isnt it something that the men and women on this message board remember being spanked.Not only remember,but refuse to do it to their children. Isnt that sad. I dont want my son to think back on his childhood and remember so vividly me hitting him. Thats what it is you know "hitting". I think spanking is a cushion word. Children are going to get into things and do things we do not like. We have to "teach" them why it is bad to do certain things. Would you allow one of your childrens teachers to hit them at school for not doing something right? If that is your method of teaching then you shouldnt see any problem with it. To mean spanking is being a bully to your own children, and it is an easy way out.
