SUBJECT: My Anti-Ferber method is working- night 1
So, out of the blue, my 19 month old daughter had decided that she will not sleep in her crib--or sleep anywhere for that matter. If we approach her room she'll start screaming bloody murder.

We tried the Ferber method for almost a week, visiting her every few minutes in her room, but after two hours of her non-stop screaming/wailing and mucous everywhere, we couldn't take it anymore. She only wanted to sleep on our shoulder or next to us anywhere. We did not take her into our bed.
So, I decided tonight that if she wants to be treated like a newborn, maybe she should--until she gets back into her routine. She has been suffering from the pain of teething/molars, so maybe she associates the crib with pain. (?)
Also, after months of being "independent" and doing usual toddler stuff inc. ABC's and 1-2-3's perhaps she needs a little babying at night right now too.
Tonight, I gave her a bottle (yes, bottle) of milk so she could see it...even warmed it up a bit. Rocked her on my pillow in the glider--haven't done that in months! She went to sleep in about half an hour. What to do about the crib? I left the pillow under her and placed her in the crib...she didn't flinch! She's been sleeping peacefully for about an hour now and although it's night one of Anti-Ferber, I'm hoping we can get the usual routine back soon. In the meantime after two weeks of pretty much NO sleep for mommy and daddy and baby, I'd like to see if this works! She may wake up anytime though!
Our routine may have to change, but a happy baby is the most important thing to me right now...besides at least five hours of straight sleep!
