SUBJECT: Wiping
Here's the situation...a four year old girl who is potty trained completely except for maybe wetting at night. Since even that hasn't happened for a few months, she might even be past that already. She is able and willing to use the grownup toilet all by herself. But she will not wipe unless you are there to do it for her. If you don't catch her on the toilet, she won't wipe after pee or poop. How do you train a little girl like this to wipe herself after every trip to the toilet and, more importantly, to wipe from front to back to help avoid urinary tract infections? Compounding my problem is that I'm a male who is not related to her but babysits every once in a while. So far she doesn't seem to mind me helping her in the bathroom but she's getting to the age where modesty will start kicking in and, frankly, she should be starting to resist having a non-primary caregiver non-relative male 'touching' her down there. Any advice would be appreciated.
