I know that this is a big questions for moms to be. But the truth is you won't know until your in labor. Everyone is different some can take pain well and others can't. While others are actually experiencing more pain because they had contractions longer than others and after a while enough is enough.

We've all heard of the women that had contraction for 5 hours and boom the baby popped right out and the other women that say they had contraction for 36 hours. Now you tell me who is more likely to stay the "natural route".

No mother is ever going to look down on you if you needed something to help ease the pain. The most important thing is that your baby is healthy.

My advice is try the natural route as long as you can. You'll later look back on it and be glad that you didn't miss out on some of the pain. I had contractions with my first one for about 34 hours then they stopped and after going to the hospital and they gave my a drug to speed up the contractions from 4-5 minutes apart to 3 or less minutes apart that went on for another 12 hours and then after determining "failure to progress" and "fetal stress" did a c-section. I don't regret the pain that I had with the contractions because that all I had at the end of my pregnancy. I missed out on the natural birth process and had to have a c-section instead.

Don't try to make a decision now on what your going to do ... just wait until your there.
