SUBJECT: Bedtime Excuses
my 3 year old has suddenly found every excuse in the book (and some new ones too) for not going to bed when he is told.
Because I am a single mom, we have a rule in the house that either of us can ask for a cuddle at any time, just to show that we love each other. Unfortunately this started backfiring around bedtime, as he kept coming downstairs for another cuddle.
Now his excuse is that he is afraid of the dark. So I left his door open with the landing light on. When that excuse became redundant the next was "monsters in his room". We have gone through everything I can think of to get rid of the monsters, make friends with the monsters. But the real reason is that he knows there are no monsters, it is just a great excuse for not going to bed, or climbing into bed with me.
Any advice would be welcome..
