 | I think if she is taking 2 naps, it may be time to move to one. Mine went to one nap about 15-16 months, but it was HARD. I would try to establish a consistent schedule of bedtimes and naptimes and stick with it, regardless of waketimes. It may take a week or two, but she should adjust as long as she is going to bed on her own.
Mine had a really hard time staying up in the morning - if he woke at 6AM, he wanted to go back to bed by 8AM. When I switched to one nap, I decided that he had to stay up until 12PM, regardless of when he woke up, and he went to bed for the night at 7:20pm, regardless of nap length (this was decided because mine tended to wake 9.5 hours after going to bed and would want to stay up if it was already getting light out - if it was dark, I would check on him as if it was the middle of the night and put him back to bed). For a while, he still got up at about 6AM and only took a 2 hour nap, but after a couple weeks, he adjusted to sleeping from about 7:30PM-7AM and takes a 2.5-3.5 hour nap. I had to be very consistent for a long time to see the results, though. I sometimes would change the schedule a little if I didn't see improvements after a few days, but I later realized that mine needs a week or two to adjust on his own. I originally set 'rules' for the sleep times - I would not get him out of bed until 6AM and would not get him up from a nap until at least 2 hours. The adjustment was very difficult, but worth it in the end!
Good luck! -Kari |
