Barely 5 is awfully young for kindergarten, especially for boys. All teachers I talk to about this, including my mom whom had 3 boys, say it is much better to hold a child back if they are not quite ready, especially if they are on the young end. I think society is so achievement oriented now and emphasize testing so much in school that they make parents feel bad if they feel their child is not ready and decide to wait.
I think it will do your son more harm than good to keep him in kindergarten now and have him notice that he is not quite keeping up, etc. It may put him off to a bad start psychologically as far as how he views school.
Good luck and keep us posted!
