 | I babysit my three year old newphew while my sister (Mother of the child) sleeps for work, goes to work, and sleeps after work during the day (She has a night job) Alright so the problem is: HOW DO I GET HIM TO SLEEP BEFORE 10? Right now, his routine is, wake up between 11am and 12pm, watches movies and plays video games during the day, then takes about a 1 to 2 hour nap around supper time. Then he either wakes up and eats, or goes to his grandparents that live right across the way, to play. Then he comes home around 9 or 10pm and watches movies ALL NIGHT. Its gotten to be to where he watches atleast 4 or 5 movies a night. Adventually he will fall asleep around 3 or 4am. Whenever I put a movie in I always tell him that as soon as this one is over WE are going to bed!!! He'll say, "Ok Ok" However right before its over, he says, I wanna watch another one. That way he thinks that because he's not seeing the credits come up, he didnt watch all of it and doesnt have to go to bed. Well, I know what he's trying to do so, I say NO. However whenever I tell him NO, he screams like someone is killing him. I try to make hime stop but whenever I try to talk to him, he screams LOUDER. His parents are sleeping for work, and we live in apartments, so I cant let him scream. You see, He knows what he is doing, because he ALWAYS sits right in front of his parents bedroom door and screams, so I HAVE to give in to him. I have tried to hide his DVDs even the VHS thats in his bedroom, and only leave the ones that he barly ever watches thinking he'll be interested in since he doesnt watch them that much, but it doesnt work, he screams for other stuff like, his bike or his scooter, stuff I CANNOT give to him because of the hour. I dont know what to do. Please give me some advice. I was telling my cousin about my little problem, and she said I should just beat his ass and turn off all the lights and tell him to lay down and watch a movie. I have tried to turn off the lights, put in a movie and tell him to lay down, but he doesnt listen to me. I cant spank him because he is not my child. There are times where he does something bad and I smack his hand, but he STILL cries like someone is killing him, so who knows what he would do if I actually spank him on the butt. |
