SUBJECT: Docs aint always right
I wanted to post this in reminder of what happened to my son last year.. At four months, my son got extremely sick.. High fever for more than three days. I took him in and they said he had an ear infection.. So,they gave him a shot of antibiotics and said he will feel better tomorrow.. SO ok.. My son was not drinking or eating at all and his fever would not go down.. SO i went back the next day. they told me the same thing.. Ok.. so i went back the next day.. At this point, he was lethargic and his fever was steady, still not eating or drinking anything.. they just told me he would get better.. and to try to have him drink from little dixie cups because his ear infection was preventing him from drinking..So.. I went out and bought him those.. well he drank but then he threw up bad.. Took him back the next day.. (i was telling them how sick he was at every appt but they though they knew best).. Finally a doc saw him.. and just looked at him and said. this kid needs to be in the hospital..He was severely dehydrated, his lips were so dry they were nothing but dry cracked bleeding skin. His ear infection never responded to the antibiotics they were giving to him so he had major fluid build up and a very terrible sever ear infection. He was in for 4 days and got better.. They had to do surgery to give him tubes to drain all the fluid in his ear.. I say this story because he had rsv as well and they just told me he had a cold.. well i took him in to the er and his oxygen level was very low.. He had to stay there again as well.. Sometimes docs dont know best for your kids.. I think as mothers we have instincs at times that really make us know the best solutions for our kids when they are sick.. Ive learned if i have that feeling, to be gung ho until something is done about it.. unfortunaly for my son, it was too late before he got extremely sick.. He was sick from when he was 4months to a year old...
