Many daycare centers now also function as preschools. Most offer half and full day options to meet the needs of all families. A few half-days a week can be wonderful for a three year old child, but your child has to be ready for it. It really depends on each individual child. As for in home child care vs. a state regualted child care center, both can offer high quality care for little ones. No matter where you send your child, you need to be very careful picking the place that will be the most appropriate for your child and your family. You can access a list of questions and things to look for when chosing care/preschool for your child at the site for NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). Ask a lot of questions, visit more than once, and sepnd time observing staff interactions with the children. If you can find a center in your area that had obtained NAECY accreditation than you can be assured that it is a high quality center.
