SUBJECT: Tried everything for constipation
My son, who will be 3 in October 2003, has been constipated since birth. We took him to a GI specialist, who did a study and ruled out hirschsprungs disease. He was good on and off, until his last bout of antibiotics for an ear infection in April(he didn't get these often). However, he will not poop on his own. We have been giving senokot and mineral oil, but we have to do a suppository because he won't defecate after 3 or 4 days. I do not believe this is a problem related to potty training because he has done well with it. The GI specialist believes that he is just holding it, but how can a child hold after senokot and mineral oil (and sometimes even after a suppository). Does anyone have suggestions???

Thanks,

Hare and MOM
