SUBJECT: anyone have Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction? (pelvic separation)
Hi! I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my first baby and just came back from the doctor's. I went because I was experiencing severe pelvic pain, especially when getting up, rolling over in bed, getting in and out of cars, etc.. He told me that I had a separation of the pelvic bone and that there really wasn't anything that could be done for it other than Tylenol and heating pads. I am to stop all sort of exercise or movement that may aggravate it, including walking. He said it will probably get worse up until delivery and may make delivery more painful if not medicated, but that the problem usually resolves itself after delivery. I was very discouraged by the idea of being in chronic pain for awhile, and therefore did not think to ask some important questions. I'm hoping somebody who has experienced this could give me some insight. Will this make it necessary to have a C-section? If not, how does it effect labor and delivery? Are there any exercises that are safe to do? (I hate the thought of being inactive for the next six weeks!) How long after delivery does the pain last? Will this occur in all following pregnancies? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
