 | I was thinking the same thing. I find it interesting that so many people who spank make the point "well, you can't reason with a toddler, he doesn't understand". So, how is a child supposed to understand that his mommy (the center of his universe and the person who is supposed to protect him from harm) is inflicting pain on him to teach him not to hit, touch the stove, etc... To me, this defies logic.
My husband was spanked a lot as child and he says that he never learned right from wrong from the spankings. All he learned was that his father was bigger than he was, so he shouldn't fight back. However, his little brother was a much safer target and he hit him all the time. He really tormented his brother when they were growing up. To this day, they do not have a very good relationship. |
