 | I've noticed that people have had really different experiences/outcomes on this topic. It may depend on your child's temperment/need for attention/etc.
Here's my opinion. My son was in preschool at age 2, which I regret. Two year olds do not socialize with each other. They are not ready for "preschool" activities. Some 3 year olds are, and some are not. What my son got there was constant turnover, so he was unable to bond with a specific teacher. He got high ratios, so his needs were not always met or even addressed, and he got less attention. What he did get was a lesson on how to get physical with other kids, he got bitten, he got pushed, he learned to defend himself. And he got A LOT of illnesses because there were 3x as many kids.
If you decide on preschool, are you talking about 2 full days, or just 3 hrs a day 2 or 3 days a week? This makes a big difference. From my take, the long days are hard on the little ones in preschool.
In my area there are home daycares with 6 or less than focus on preschool activities. |
