SUBJECT: Changing mind to be like friends
My daughter just turned three last month. She is incredibly opinionated, strong willed and determined. This in mind, you can imagine why I'm so confused about her behavior. We just moved and this is the first time she has experienced friends living next door and across the street. She sees them almost everyday. All of a sudden, things she has always loved, she doesn't like if the one girl doesn't. Unfortunately this doesn't work in reverse (the other girl likes her vegetables!) The other little girl will end every question with, "O.K. Mommy?" and mine has just started doing it. It's driving me nuts. She does it after everything she says now. The only thing I can think is the one girl is over a year older, and the other is almost two years older. My daughter has always spoken very well for her age, and can "hold her own" when interacting with children who are older, and that is why this seems so strange. I've explained she is her own little person, and that it's not o.k. to like or dislike anything just because somebody else likes or dislikes, but it's going in one ear and out the other - any ideas?
