Crazy Camp Mom,
Just a thought... I encountered two different scenarios that I with my daughter, now three, that may help:

When my daughter was about 18 months, she developed mild flu-like symptoms that I didn't react to initially as she had been to the Dr. and received shots; flu-like symptoms within 48 hours after visiting the Dr. was becoming routine for her. I became increasingly concerned however, when she became colic-like; as she had always been a calm and consolable baby. I took her into emergency and it turns out she had a UTI - bladder infection. I personally am very prone to both bladder and yeast infections and have received just about every test there is on both topics by both OB and urology specialists; nothing was ever discovered and I just need to be "pro-active" with vitamins and above normal cleanliness. Her Dr. indicated while not "common," not unusual either, and should actually be more common as infant girls can sit in their fecal matter before changed, and the bacteria can travel (most uti's are related to bacteria found in stool from not wiping front to back, etc). The other scenario, while a bit of an isolated incident: not many months after this incident, my daugther stayed one night at my parents house. When she returned the next day, I noticed her vaginal area appeared rash-like (until that day she had experienced MAYBE one brief rash). I spoke with my dad and asked him if they'd noticed anything. He indicated they just used the white tube of cream that was in the diaper bag when they changed her. Her diaper cream was yellow! Turns out they had applied an antibiotic cream the Dr. had given us to put on an infected wound she had on her finger when she got it caught in the vcr! A very innocent mistake, and nothing every came of it, but it taught me very early on to consider all scenarios and possibilites before jumping too quick to conclusions. FYI - the absolutly fabulous diaper cream I used, and still do for both of us is calendula cream made by Weleda - you can find it at natural markets such as Wild Oats, Whole Foods, or online. One last thought, does she swim? If so, does she spend an extended amount of time in a wet suit? Bubble baths or bath soap with a lot of parfum? Best of luck.
