SUBJECT: hair loss after pregnancy?
hi, this is my first pregnancy and i'm 33 weeks now. throughout my pregnancy i've been reading a lot about symptoms, what to expect, and so on. i read that during pregnancy some women's hair grows thicker or more plentiful. now i've read that about 3 months after the baby is born, hair loss is common due to the decrease in hormone levels.
this scares me, even though it's supposed to grow back eventually, some women talk about having lost A LOT of hair..balding to the point if having to wear wigs.
does anyone know how often hair loss occurs after pregnancy and how likely it will be severe?
i know it may seem vain and selfish to be worried about such a thing but to be honest, my body has already gone through such havoc and the birth is growing so near, i'm scared about a lot of things...if i lose my hair after this i'm very worried it'll greatly increase the chances i'll experience post-partum depression..it could be the "straw that breaks the camel's back".
