Try using a ticket system. Put 5 "tickets" on the fridge in the morning and everytime he does a bad thing (hitting ect.) take one away and tell him that if he looses all of them... you have to find something that works for you... with my daughter it was no more t.v. or videos for the rest of the night (because that was one thing she enjoyed having the ability to do- even though she didn't always get to watch either way she didn't want to loose those tickets or loose the choice to watch). It only took my daughter 2 days to have better behavior (I really need to do this again as I see her uncooperativeness has seemed to return). You can also couple this with having to do time out every time a ticket is lost and/or having to go to his room for the rest of the night once they are all gone. Let me know if you try it. Good Luck.
